Women In Education

How can education contribute to reducing the rates of child marriage and enhancing girls’ chances of having a fair and equal life?

In fact, education is one of the most important issues, as it plays a crucial role in the progress of societies. In the long term, it helps achieve gender equality and enhances women’s opportunities in life, as well as reducing the rates of early marriage in society.

From this perspective, the World Bank in its report, titled “Child Marriage… Ending Child Marriages,” addressed the inverse relationship between education levels and child marriage.

Similarly, focusing on Egyptian society, the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood in its 2022 report pointed out that in areas with high education levels, child marriage rates are lower.

Thus, we can say that education is not just a means of gaining knowledge, but a beacon for guiding minds and hearts. Through it, doors to opportunities open, while windows of oppression, injustice, and exploitation are closed. When a girl learns, she becomes aware of her rights and duties, and she gains a strong voice to defend herself against all forms of inequality.

Educating girls is their stronghold against the early marriage imposed upon them, which robs them of their childhood and their future life.
